My interests: the role of disorder close to QPT, frustration in spin liquids, supercond. close to QCP Key open questions: -is the new physics in heavy electron quantum crticality solely due to magnetism or are there other modes? -Detailed role of disorder close to "understood" QCP (like Hertz type spin density wave transition with XY and Heisenberg symmetry) -Is the spin-liquid state in organic kappa-Cu2(CN)3 a critical phase? -what is the nature of the Non Fermi liquid state in MnSi? Work I am doing: -develop "infinite randomness" description for disordered itinerant Heisenberg spins (with Th. Vojta) -Understand / formulate a recently discovered strong coupling fixed point in magnetic rotons as effective theory for MnSi -formuate a mean field theory for kappa-Cu2(CN)3. -discuss with numerous people at the workshop what "other mode" may be of relevance in YbRh2Si2 or YbAgGe...
