My personal research interest at the moment is in trying to prove (or disprove) more convincingly the existence of a locally critical QPT in the Kondo model. As you and I discussed yesterday, there is a possibility that the local QCP is more robust than it appears in EDMFT (or perhaps, more robust than it appears in the simplest form of the Kondo latice model), where it hinges on two-dimensionality of the spin fluctuations. If any of the gathered experts have ideas on this, it would be wonderful. I also came here with the goal of learning more about current alternatives to local criticality. The discussion last Friday answered fairly conclusively in the negative whether it is possible to patch up Hertz-Millis-type theories. This ssems to leave room only for more radical approaches.
