Specific interests related to quantum phase transitions: 1) what is the nature of non-Fermi liquid phase in MnSi? what is the role of so called magnetic rotons observed and predicted in MnSi? 2) what are the stages of Kondo screening of spin impurity in paramagnetic, but nearly ferromagnetic, metal? Is multi-channel Kondo screening relevant for quantum phase transitions in metals? 3) Metal-insulator transitions in granular metals. What are the main insulating phases and mechanisms of conduction? On a general level, it appears that there are at least two types of phase transitions depending on whether locally amplitude of the order parameter is zero or not. How should we describe single-particle excitations in the former case? I am also interested in the disordered and glassy model Hamiltonians motivated by the low-temperature properties of structural glasses.
