Images from the Patterns program, both beautiful and interesting: Raleigh-Benard Convection (Eberhardt Bodenschatz & Werner Pesch) and Bacteria Colonies (Eshel Ben-Jacob). Naturally, these images exist also in a third dimension: time.

Images of traces of higher space in 3d spaces. Henderson's book The Fourth Dimension and Non-Euclidean Geometry in Modern Art is very interesting. Two comments: these early researchers never really finished their task, and the unfinished task itself has almost been forgotten. Of course being about one century old, it is not new and cannot be interesting anymore to anyone. While some are still trying to understand cubism and the fourth dimension, others are now proposing a universe in 4 plus 6-7 folded dimensions.

Ten years ago, this image was evoking x^n+y^n==z^n, but now it is about space configuration in certain strings theories. The relationships of these spaces with ours is becoming an increasingly important preoccupation.
