Daniel Hone

Daniel Hone currently serves as Director of Outreach and Education for the KITP. He was Deputy Director from 1994 until 2004. He received his PhD in Physics from the University of Illinois in 1962, where he held an NSF Predoctoral Fellowship. After a year at the Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris, supported by a NAS/NRC Postdoctoral Fellowship, he joined the Physics Department of the University of Pennsylvania as an Assistant Professor. He joined the faculty of the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 1967. He served as Chair of that department during the period 1982-86 and as Dean of Mathematical, Life, and Physical Sciences from
1991-94. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, and he has been appointed as Professeur d’Echange at the University of Paris (1973), Senior Visiting Lecturer at Oxford (1974) and JSPS Fellow at the ISSP of the University of Tokyo (1982).
