    Registration

    Registration is open to current members of the UCSB Physics Department, KITP, and LCOGT. There is no registration fee. Refreshments will be provided at coffee breaks, and there will be a catered lunch in the KITP courtyard for those who have registered by the deadline. There will also be a "beer & chips" reception in the KITP courtyard following the meeting.

    The registration deadline is May 27, 2009.
    This early deadline is neccessary to help us facilitate our preparations. Please register if you plan to attend, and provide a talk title if you wish to give one. If you're not sure about your title by May 27, make up something that is vague and general, yet impressive sounding. You can register here:

    This meeting is not an "official" KITP event, however, so please do not contact any of the KITP staff; send all inquiries to sbastro09@gmail.com. If you have an urgent question that requires a prompt response, email Randy or Lars.

    Talks

    The meeting will follow an informal format. There will be no plenary talks. All participants, especially postdocs and graduate students, are invited to contribute talks on their current research. We anticipate each talk's duration to be 6-10 minutes and expect the meeting to run from about 9am to 5pm. We will provide more precise information once we know the number of speakers. There will be no printed proceedings; however, we may post the talks to this website after the meeting.

    The meeting will take place in the Auditorium of the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics, located in Kohn Hall on the University of California, Santa Barbara campus.

    Overhead and laptop projectors will be available, but we ask all speakers to send us their talks as a .pdf file so that we can use a single laptop to display the presentations and make them easily accessible via this website after the conference. Those wishing to show movies or animations that are likely to require special attention should let us know when you register (and remind us again on June 4th).

    When you are ready to submit your presentation, email it to sbastro09@gmail.com and put "presentation" in the subject line. Put your [last name].pdf as the filename. By 2pm on June 4, you will need to either email your presentations to the above address, or send an email indicating that you will bring your talk on a flash drive prior to the start of your session.
