As our understanding of the universe continues to grow, so basic science continues to have the capacity to transform our lives. KITP recognizes the importance and value in sharing new ideas and the excitement of discovery with our community through a variety of programming.

Public Lecture Series

KITP Public Lectures connect you with people and research that is transforming our understanding of the universe. This popular series of 3-4 talks each year takes advantage of the presence of the many distinguished scientists who visit KITP to collaborate on the most fascinating and challenging questions in their fields.

Chalk Talks

About 4-5 times a year, KITP hosts Chalk Talks for the Friends of the KITP group. These special events, preceded by a light meal and refreshments, move into the Simons Amphitheater where guests engage in active dialogue with a leading scientist about their research.

Café KITP

Café KITP is a "physics café" featuring a presentation by a physicist, followed by questions and provocations facilitated by an interlocutor who inspires the audience to engage with the subject and the speaker.

Teachers

KITP hosts an annual, one-day Teachers’ Conference, held in conjunction with an on-going program, designed to introduce high school science teachers to the latest discoveries and ideas.

The Writer-in-Residence program, jointly sponsored by KITP and the Kavli Foundation, hosts science writers, editors and journalists at KITP for up to five months each year.
