The New Cosmology Confronts Observation Conference
Coordinators: Katherine Freese, Marc Kamionkowski, John Ruhl, Martin White
The conference will kick-off a 3 month program whose focus is on confronting
new theoretical ideas in cosmology with the increasingly precise data from
"second generation" experiments in the fields of cosmic microwave background anisotropies, large-scale structure, weak gravitational lensing,
supernovae and dark matter. The longer program will bring together theorists with expertise in a wide variety of areas from early universe theory, physical cosmology and data mining. Particular attention will be paid to comparing different approaches to common questions, combining the constraining power of our cosmological probes and sharing new approaches to dealing with such large datasets. The week-long conference will ground this effort by providing an overview of the current state of experiments and what capabilities are just around the corner.
