Follow-on Program: January - May 2024

KITP invites researchers who participated in 2022 programs to apply to visit again, in order to pursue ideas sparked at KITP. The goal is to support collaborative efforts that might be brought to fruition through a brief, focused return. Visits must be for one complete business week (Sunday - Saturday), with all group members in residence for the entire period.

Groups of 2-6 members wishing to develop projects arising from the following programs may apply to visit for 1 full business week between January 7 and May 25, 2024:

  • Towards an Integrative View of Adaptation . . . (ADAPT22)
  • . . . Accretion and Orbital Evolution in Stellar and Black Hole Binaries (BINARY22)
  • Quantum Many-Body Dynamics and NISQ (DYNISQ22)
  • Living Near Unitarity (FEWBODY22)
  • . . . Thermal Fluctuational Electrodynamics (FLECTRO22)
  • Confinement, Flux Tubes, and Large N (FLUXTUBE22)
  • High-Precision Gravitational Waves (GWAVES22)
  • Integrability in String, Field, and Condensed Matter Theory (INTEGRABLE22)
  • Quantitative Biology of Non-growing Microbes (MICROBES22)
  • Multiphase Flows in Geophysics and the Environment (MULTIPHASE22)
  • The Neurophysics of Locomotion (NEUROLOCO22)
  • Neutrinos as a Portal to New Physics and Astrophysics (NEUTRINOS22)
  • Towards Classically Intractable Quantum Simulations . . . (QCOMP22)
  • White Dwarfs as Probes of the Evolution of Planets, . . . (WHITEDWARFS22)

A proposal consists of 1-2 pages explaining (1) the scientific motivation for the collaboration and summary of your work to date on it, (2) each group member's role, and (3) what you hope to achieve during your week at KITP.

Applying consists of two steps:

1. One collaborator must serve as KITP's primary point of contact and submit the group's proposal.

2. Each member of the proposed group must also fill out a brief online application by by clicking "apply" on this page's right-hand toolbar.

Proposals are being reviewed as they are received. The submission deadline is December 1, 2023.

For those invited to participate, KITP will directly pay for campus housing and provide office space in Kohn Hall. Visitors will be fully responsible for travel, meals, and any other expenses.
