Follow-on Program: September - December 2024
KITP invites researchers who participated in 2023 programs to apply to visit again, in order to pursue ideas sparked at KITP. The goal is to support collaborative efforts that might be brought to fruition through a brief, focused return. Visits must be for one complete business week (Sunday - Saturday), with all group members in residence for the entire period.
Groups of 2-6 members wishing to develop projects arising from the following programs may apply to visit for 1 full business week between September 1 and December 21, 2024, excluding the week of November 24:
- Bootstrapping Quantum Gravity (BOOTSTRAP23)
- Statistical Learning in the Brain (BRAINLEARN23)
- The Cosmic Web: Connecting Galaxies to Cosmology at High and Low Redshift (COSMICWEB23)
- Deep Learning from the Perspective of Physics and Neuroscience (DEEPLEARNING23)
- Building a Physical Understanding of Galaxy Evolution with Data-driven Astronomy (GALEVO23)
- Out-of-equilibrium Dynamics and Quantum Information of Many-body Systems with Long-range Interactions (MANYBODY23)
- Dynamics of Self-Organization in Animal and Plant Development (MORPHO23)
- Nanoparticle Assemblies: A New Form of Matter with Classical Structure and Quantum Function (NANOASSEMBLY23)
- A Quantum Universe in a Crystal: Symmetry and Topology across the Correlation Spectrum (QCRYSTAL23)
- A New Spin on Quantum Magnets (QMAGNETS23)
- New Directions in Quantum Metrology (QMETRO23)
- Quantum Materials With and Without Quasiparticles (QUASIPART23)
- The Many Faces of Relativistic Fluid Dynamics (RELFLUIDS23)
A proposal consists of 1-2 pages explaining (1) the scientific motivation for the collaboration and summary of your work to date on it, (2) each group member's role, and (3) what you hope to achieve during your week at KITP.
Applying consists of two steps:
1. One collaborator must serve as KITP's primary point of contact and submit the group's proposal.
2. Each member of the proposed group must also fill out a brief online application by by clicking "apply" on this page's right-hand toolbar.
The submission deadline is April 15, 2024.
For those invited to participate, KITP will directly pay for campus housing and provide office space in Kohn Hall. KITP does not provide family housing for Follow-ons. Visitors will be fully responsible for travel, meals, and any other expenses.
