Update from the Director

Monday, July 06, 2020

Dear KITP Community,

Since the start of the pandemic, KITP has been working with every program scheduled for calendar year 2020 to facilitate continued scientific progress. In some cases, the programs have transitioned to a virtual format and occurred at the time scheduled, while others have decided to re-apply for programs in the 2022-2023 academic year. In two cases, we were able to accommodate a re-scheduling.

As of today, we have run three programs using the Zoom format and I encourage you to go to KITP Online and see how well it is working:

This has also allowed us to include larger groups of scientists, sometimes over 100. We have three more programs planned for Fall 2020 in the virtual format. As 2021 approaches, we will be speaking with the program coordinators to make the best possible decision in time for adequate planning.

We have also taken this opportunity to initiate some new events, starting with our Reunion Conferences that were just announced.
