Simon and Diana Raab make generous gift to KITP Teachers Conference

Monday, January 14, 2008

The KITP is proud to announce an important opportunity made possible by a gift from Simon and Diana Raab, generous donors to campus and to the KITP They have donated funding for the purpose of enhancing the university's outreach to public education through the KITP annual Teachers' Conference. In order to expand the impact of our successful annual conference, they propose to fund three prizes each year, for three years, to be awarded to the best presentations on the meeting created by attendees (link to contest details). Through these awards we hope the impact of the Teachers' Conference may reach a much wider audience of teachers and students, as the presentations are meant for dissemination and use in public school classrooms and at professional meetings. It is hoped these awards will encourage participation by physics teachers from around the country. In turn, the participating teachers will further inspire their students in physics and science.
