Disorder and Interactions in Quantum Hall and Mesoscopic System
Coordinators: Sankar Das Sarma, Matthew P.A. Fisher, Steven M. Girvin, Allan H. MacDonald
This program addressed correlations in disordered low-dimensional electronic systems, including quantum
Hall, 1D quantum wires and 0D quantum dots. Topics of focus included: localization, the possibility of
metallic phases in 2D, spin and skyrmion physics, 2D Wigner crystallization, multi-layer and quasi-3D
systems, drag between 2DEG\'s, the half-filled Landau level, collective excitations, 2D to 2D tunneling, and edge
states as Luttinger liquids. In addition metal/insulator and superconductor/insulator transitions in strongly
correlated disordered systems were discussed.
