Application and recommendation letter deadline: February 26, 2023

This interdisciplinary course is open to postdocs and advanced graduate students with Physical, Mathematical, Life Science, or Engineering backgrounds. Prior experience in the subject of the course is not necessary, but demonstrated scholastic excellence and research experience are preferred. Applicants are requested to provide (via an online form) a CV/publication list plus a "personal statement" letter explaining why they are interested in the course, how they expect to benefit from it, and their preparation for the course.

Course Description

Accommodations and Fees

  • There is no tuition or lab fee.
  • Students will be provided with lodging and a 19-meal plan in UCSB dining halls. Lodging will be in double-occupancy rooms in the Manzanita Village dormitories on the UCSB campus.  A limited number of single-occupancy bedrooms are available for a $881 supplement.
  • A limited number of travel grants will be available for cases of demonstrated need.
