This interdisciplinary course is open to postdocs and advanced graduate students with Physical, Mathematical, Life Science, or Engineering backgrounds. Prior experience in the subject of the course is not necessary, but demonstrated scholastic excellence and research experience will be preferred. Applicants are requested to provide (via an online form) a CV/publication list plus a "personal statement" letter explaining (1) why they are interested in the course and how they expect to benefit from it and (2) their preparation for the course.
Each application must be supported by two letters of recommendation uploaded at http://www.kitp.ucsb.edu/qbio-recommendation-letter. One letter must be from the applicant's research supervisor. Admission letters will be sent by April 5, 2019.
Accommodations and Fees
- There is no tuition or lab fee.
- Students will be provided with lodging and a 14-meal plan in UCSB dining halls. Lodging will be in the Santa Ynez student apartments on the UCSB campus. Each apartment has two bedrooms, each with two bunk beds, one full and one half bathroom, a kitchen, and a living room. Single-occupancy bedrooms are available for a $750 supplement.
*A limited number travel grants will be available for cases of demonstrated need.
