Membership in Friends of KITP

At the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics (KITP), scientists pursue the frontiers of fundamental knowledge, provoking new questions, passions, and spirited debate. We invite you to spend evenings with some of the world’s most exciting modern scientists, sharing refreshments and conversation about big questions such as how the universe began, how stars and planets form, how the brain works, and where dark matter lurks.

If you seek an intellectually stimulating community, Friends of KITP will reward you. Members of this society have met Stephen Hawking and attended lectures by “The Elegant Universe” author Brian Greene. Frequent Chalk Talks allow Friends of KITP to stay current with the latest breakthroughs in science through engaging informal presentations by KITP’s visiting scientists.
