Shakespeare

Even Shakespeare likes my writing style
I was pleasantly surprised when I received a letter from Shakespeare!

Understanding the Essay" by Edward O. Shakespeare & Co. is a textbook teaching students how to write. Mr. Shakespeare asked me for permission to include a passage from Einstein's Universe, the book formerly known as An Old Man's Toy in his book.

I am really pleased with the company I keep, the likes of George Orwell, Jorge Luis Borges, John Updike, E. M. Forster, James Baldwin, James Thurber, Joan Didion, Lewis Thomas, Maxine Hong Kingston, and Eudora Welty. I can just picture great writers like John Updike and Joan Didion saying "Who in the world is this A. Zee?"

In parts I and II Shakespeare & Co. define the essay and introduce the students to topics like the abstract and the specific, irony, satire, imagery, parallel construction, humor, allusion, and so on. Part III is a collection of essays. Each essay is introduced with a brief biography of the author and followed by a Study Guide, Questions, and Composition Topics. A great book for students learning how to write!

A question: Is Shakespeare or Nabokov the better writer?
