Some reader reviews of Group Theory in a Nutshell for Physicists on Amazon.com

Zee's books are a milestone in the physics literature.

The reason I say it's a milestone is because on reading Zee's book, you will realize that the journey of physics is full of emotions. Zee brings out those human emotions very well with his fictional characters like Confusio, the Jargon guy etc, thus making the reader realize that physics is not a dry subject filled with cold, dead logic but rather very vibrant human emotions. And one learns a subject much faster if he/she is emotionally attached to it. Very few books achieve this.

I own about eight books with titles like group theory in physics, and I took a vow not to buy any others. But when A. Zee writes a physics book (especially in the Nutshell series), I feel compelled to buy it, as he is such a fantastic teacher, and expositor of theoretical physics.

I just finished reading this wonderful book filled with empowering puzzles. I've never had this much fun with a physics book, myself being at an age of 43, that means something.

Anthony Zee writes wonderful deep books for physicists and this is no exception. Warning for mathematicians: I am a group theorist and this is not how we think of teaching group theory. But that aside, Professor Zee knows his audience and in addition to the group theory thered is a wealth of physics applications.

Always read this author, his style is just what I prefer. Math was made by human beings, I love that he puts the person in front of the math.

--------------

This is a remarkable and wonderful book, a terrific addition to Anthony Zee's series of "Nutshell" books. I think that his explanations are admirably clear and helpful; in addition, he conveys the excitement and human interest that so often is just suppressed from accounts of technical subjects such as this.

One can simply not find a better author from which to learn physics! Zee stokes the flames of passion for physics. Reading his books i feel invigorated and confident. One positive aspect, i find, is that in some sections he proceeds "painfully slow" so as not to confuse the reader and he "beats to death" the rotation group SO(N)

What a fun book! I have been waiting for a book like this for quite a while, and I think it fills a huge gap in what is currently available to physics students. It is certainly filling in holes for me left and right!
